As a instructional designer and technologist consultant, I work with University of Pittsburgh faculty and enable them to create online courses for the College of General Studies. Depending on the skills and schedule of the instructor, I provide one or more of the following design and development consults.
- Plan the move from classroom to online
- Evaluate course structure
- Identify instructional models (e.g., lecture versus experiential)
- Content evaluation to ensure clarity
- Instruct on the use and application of Blackboard and Bb plug-in instructional technology
- Instruct on developing courses in Bb
- Develop course environments with instructor content
- Troubleshoot Bb issues
To help start the CGSOnline Program, I created a Blackboard demo course designed to introduce faculty to the process of planning, designing, developing, and managing online courses in Blackboard. As of March 2009, I have developed and/or consultant on 20 online courses.
