Blackboard Course Design and Development

As a instructional designer and technologist consultant, I work with University of Pittsburgh faculty and enable them to create online courses for the College of General Studies. Depending on the skills and schedule of the instructor, I provide one or more of the following design and development consults.

  • Plan the move from classroom to online
  • Evaluate course structure
  • Identify instructional models (e.g., lecture versus experiential)
  • Content evaluation to ensure clarity
  • Instruct on the use and application of Blackboard and Bb plug-in instructional technology
  • Instruct on developing courses in Bb
  • Develop course environments with instructor content
  • Troubleshoot Bb issues

To help start the CGSOnline Program, I created a Blackboard demo course designed to introduce faculty to the process of planning, designing, developing, and managing online courses in Blackboard. As of March 2009, I have developed and/or consultant on 20 online courses.
